Errol Spence: I’ll smoke Thurman easy, plans next fight in hometown

Errol Spence Jr made the first defence of his IBF world welterweight title this past weekend, crushing Lamont Peterson inside of only seven rounds.

‘The Truth’s all-around package was simply too much for his overmatched foe. The timing, cutting off of the ring space, ramrod telephone pole jab and combination punching coupled with his punch placement just gradually broke down the former 2-weight world champion.

Following the fight, where Spence once again laid down a marker that he is a force to be reckoned with in the welterweight division.

Spence made a point of taking aim at the unified WBA and WBC world welterweight champion Keith Thurman who Spence has been very vocal about him essentially ducking him.

Additionally, Spence also surprisingly called out Mexican PPV superstar and pound-for-pound title challenger, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez who currently holds the Lineal RING Magazine world middleweight title.

Speaking on a live stream on a social media account, Spence also shared that his next fight will likely be taking place in his hometown of Dallas and shared that fight will take place ‘in the summertime.”

“Next fight, we coming to Dallas man,” Spence added.

When the topic of Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman, one of Errol Spence’s circle referred to the unified WBA and WBC as ‘Run Time’ instead of his usual moniker.

Spence added immediately afterwards, “I’ll smoke him, easy!”

“Y’all know it’s strap season. Y’all seen that dude Keith Thurman. He gonna do a post. We ain’t waiting on Keith,” Spence said in response. “I’m going to smoke him easy. He ain’t talking about nothing.”

Errol Spence’s record now reads as formidable 23-0, with 20 of those 23 victories coming by way of knockout.

He is widely being hailed on American soil as the heir to Floyd Mayweather as the next long-term ruler of the ever glamourous welterweight division.
