Errol Spence Jr held an open workout today in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. ‘The Truth’ will look to make the first defence of the IBF world welterweight title that he won last May.
Spence overwhelmed and outworked the former champion, Kell Brook over the second half of their clash and eventually broke him down, fractured his orbital bone and forced a stoppage as the fight came down the final stretch.
"The top spot in the sport is really up for grabs now and I'm coming for it. I don't care who I have to face or where, I'm going to be the last man standing. That's why we all get into this sport. I'm extremely confident in myself. ~ @errolspencejr 📸… https://t.co/XPlwryI7MIpic.twitter.com/ePunlsLw0W

Spence is now looking to make the first defence of his world welterweight title when he faces off with the former 2-weight world champion, Lamont Peterson.
As a defending champion, Spence’s position has now varied from the hunter into the hunted. However, Spence has shared he doesn’t feel any pressure ahead of the January 20th clash.
“I don’t feel any pressure at all,” Spence began.
“I don’t think the pressure can amount to going overseas for my first title fight and fighting the champion in his hometown. I don’t see it as pressure.”

“If there is any pressure it is just making me work harder and I enjoy it,” Spence stated.
“For me it is the same as every fight. It is a statement fight.”
“Lamont Peterson has a name. He has been in there with a lot of great fighters and it is a statement fight for me to show everybody that I am the best welterweight in the division,” said Spence.
“Hopefully the Keith Thurman fight happens but if it doesn’t then it is on to another top welterweight.”

I am not going to waste any time this year. I am looking to fight three times a year and I am not going to wait around for anybody.
I am going to follow my own way and hopefully get back in the ring in May,” said Spence.
