Next month’s mammoth undisputed welterweight title fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford has the boxing world split right down the middle.
Given the vast accomplishments of both men, that is hardly a surprise, with both men staples in the top ten pound for pound lists of just about everybody.
One men is better placed than most to predict the historic fight, however, and has weighed in with a prediction.
Mikey Garcia lost a unanimous decision to Spence back in 2019, whilst also suffering defeat to Crawford in the amateur ranks all the way back in 2006.
Speaking to ESNews, Garcia revealed he was edging with Crawford to emerge with the victory on July 29th.
“It’s a close one, it’s a tough one. I’m leaning towards Crawford, I think he has a few more tricks in his toolbox. Nothing crazy, not a lot, but a little bit.
He can fight left handed and right handed, he can both fight on the inside or box on the outside.
So I’m thinking Crawford by a slight, slight chance.”
With both Spence and Crawford having entered their mid thirties, fans across the world were losing hope that the undisputed fight would ever take place, especially given the promotional barriers that have always seemed to divide the two.
However, strong rumours of a bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas were made official last month, and the two will face off in what unified world champion Spence is calling ‘one of the biggest fights of the century.’
