Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez III, looks set to be announced shortly.
Both campaign at super flyweight and have already had two outstanding back and forth fights, which had fans on the edge of their seats for the course of the 24 rounds.
Estrada has been out of action since their last meeting in March 2021, which he won via split-decision retaining his WBA ‘Super’ strap in the process.
News broke earlier this week that the 32-year-old has now vacated his title elevating ‘Regular’ champion Joshua Franco to that of ‘Super’ status.
Meanwhile, multi-division world champion Gonzalez’s last outing was a lop-sided decision win against WBC flyweight champion, Julio Cesar Martinez, who was stepping up in weight to challenge the 51-3 veteran.
Earlier this year, Gonzalez and Estrada were scheduled to have their third fight, only for the latter to pull out after testing positive for Covid-19.
Estrada spoke with DAZN earlier this week and announced that he is back in training for a potential trilogy fight with rival Chocolatito:
“The fight with Roman Gonzalez is still on. We’ve had a bit of a battle on the dates, first he got the coronavirus, then me. And so far it hasn’t happened. But we’re looking at November or December.”
