Chris Eubank Jr has barely even met Arthur Abraham but the confident British boxer is already looking past him.
According to Eubank Jr, he is after big fights when he is done with Abraham. He is especially eyeing a fight against fellow Briton James DeGale. But first, he needs prove some critics wrong.
“I’ve had haters and naysayers since I first stepped in the ring six years ago. This is a fight that will silence one or two of them. Some people like to say I’ve not been tested and you can’t say that after I’ve fought Arthur Abraham. I’ve dealt with it my whole career, people saying I’m only here because of who my father is. But it doesn’t matter what your name is: if you can’t fight, you can’t fight,” said Eubank Jr to ESPN.
It’s clear that Eubank Jr wants to earn his respect as a boxing great and not just live in the shadows of his father’s accomplishments. He is eager to take belts away from the likes of DeGale of George Groves.
I want the belts. Groves and DeGale, these are the fights I deserve to be in and beating Arthur Abraham will solidify that claim. I’m sure we will be able to get those fight on this year or early next year,” told Eubank Jr.
Abraham and Eubank Jr will fight on July 15th at Wembley Arena in London.
