Although an official statement has yet to be released, multiple national media outlets have been reporting an announcement is imminent; regarding a potential IBO and WBA super middleweight unification clash between George Groves (27-3) and Chris Eubank Jr (26-1).
It has been fairly widespread, that the details of the WBSS semi-final will include the event taking place on February 17th at the Manchester Arena.
“I can’t see how George Groves can go the [distance] with Junior, I don’t see how that’s possible,” Eubank Sr explained.

“I would say this, as I have been saying ever since the Nick Blackwell fight, the referee has to protect the boxers today in the super-middleweight division.”
Eubank Sr or ‘English’ as he now likes to be known, was, of course, referring back to his March 2016 meeting with Nick Blackwell. Eubank Jr claimed the Lonsdale middleweight title that night, after a victory via TKO in the 10th round.
Blackwell ended up being hospitalised following the bout, due to bleed on the brain. The consequences of that bout meant that Blackwell had to prematurely declare his retirement from the sport.
Who are you backing?
It's on. George Groves' will fight Chris Eubank Jr at the Manchester Arena on 17 February.

“The referee has to protect them because Junior is an upgraded version of his father.” Eubank Sr boldly added.
The winner of the Eubank – Groves WBSS semi-final will face the winner of the Juergen Braehmer – Callum Smith, which is the other WBSS Semi-Final. The finer details of that matchup have as of yet, not been revealed.
Groves booked his place in the WBSS semi-final with a 4th round knockout against domestic rival, Jamie Cox. The ending to that fight coming after a savage body shot.
On the other hand, Eubank Jr booked his place in the quarter final with a knockout the year contender against Turkey’s Avni Yildrim in the 3rd round of their respective quarter-final showdown.
