Eddie Hearn and Fabio Wardley are looking to stage his first British title defence at Portman Road stadium.
Following words with three of his domestic challengers, Wardley was ordered by the British Boxing Board of Control to face Olympic Bronze Medalist and 6-0 pro, Frazer Clarke.
Speaking to IFL TV, Hearn discussed the matchmaking.
“It’s a great fight. It’s still a British title fight but I feel like it’s a big heavyweight fight. Surprised that Frazer Clarke was mandated for that fight, in all honesty. You’ve got Solomon Dacres English Champion, you’ve got David Adeleye has been around a while. Feel like he got a little bit shafted there.
But Frazer – good fighter. I feel like it’s a bit early for Frazer over 12 championship rounds, but he fancies it. We’re in. Fabio’s not vacating. So it’s gonna be a big purse bid.”
Hearn promised to ‘invest in Fabio Wardley’ come purse bids, but expects some strong competition. As for the logistics, the promoter and fighter duo are looking to stage it at Ipswich Town FC’s ground, Portman Road.

Wardley – who is 16-0 with 15 knockouts – has enjoyed incredible support from his hometown fans since the start of his campaign, and it’s been at a high since he won the British title against Nathan Gorman last year. Hearn confirmed the plans.
“We’d love to do it at Portman Road. We’ve been in conversations with the club – Fabio has for a while – about doing a fight there. We anticipated that moment happening in summer 2024, but yeah we would love to Fabio against Frazer at Portman Road.”
