Floyd Mayweather Jr hasn’t done much since his ‘money fight’ against Conor McGregor in August. Mayweather and McGregor put on a show for the fans as ‘Money’ carried the Irishman for the better part of the fight until he finished McGregor in the 10th round.
The multi-time boxing world champion promised he would not return to boxing ever again – but he didn’t rule out mixed martial arts.
Mayweather is making headlines again due to his recent talks with the UFC President Dana White about a possible fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

How serious is Floyd about a UFC deal? According to UFC commentator Joe Rogan, Mayweather is looking get one done.
“Floyd talked about it, apparently. This is one thing I can tell you, Dana told me that Floyd wants to make a deal in the UFC. Like legitimately. So I texted him ‘is Floyd really talking about fighting in MMA?’ And he goes ‘yeah, he’s f–king crazy, I told him he’d get killed but he’s still talking about doing it,” revealed Rogan on his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.
Mayweather himself said last week that he would be up for a UFC fight if the money was right.
“You already know I’m a money-getting motherf**ker. I’m Money May. They just called me not too long ago and asked me to come back. I can come right back to the UFC. If I want, I can go, I can come right back to the UFC, I can go fight in the Octagon. I can do a three or four fight deal in the Octagon and make a billion dollars. Remember, I’m Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, and you motherf**kers love me, and I love you motherf**kers,” said Floyd on a video on his social media.
Floyd is not the first boxer to dabble in MMA. Back in 2010, boxing great James Toney actually fought inside the feared Octagon and got dominated by MMA legend and multi-time UFC champion Randy Couture.
Should Floyd actually take a ride on the wild side, there are two potential massive fights looming for him.
The first one is a no-brainer, another fight with Conor McGregor. A rematch against the Irishman would once again undoubtedly generate absolutely staggering numbers all across the board.
There have also been talks about Mayweather going against former middleweight and welterweight UFC champion Georges St-Pierre.
But all the comments and podcast talk aside, a Floyd Mayweather MMA fight is stupidly highly unlikely at this point.
He reportedly struggled physically during his camp against McGregor as Floyd is already in his 40’s. Also, the price tag to witness ‘Money’ Mayweather inside the Octagon might be just a bit too much for the UFC considering what the end product of that experiment will be like.
MMA fans are already salivating over the idea of Floyd getting the same treatment as Toney, boxing fans probably not so much.
