One former heavyweight champion claims he is the only man who isn’t too scared to fight Deontay Wilder and is ‘hungry’ for the bout.
Wilder has long been in discussions with Anthony Joshua for a big battle of the former world champions.
Negotiations were seemingly very positive before then taking a hit in the form of an offer from Saudi Arabia’s Skill Challenge Entertainment taken off the table.
In the meantime, there has been lots of talk that Andy Ruiz Jr would be next up for the former WBC world champion and fearsome puncher.
At one point it was ordered as a WBC final eliminator, but that was rescinded after the pair openly admitted they couldn’t come to an agreement on purses.
Speaking to Make A Move recently, Ruiz revealed he is still keen despite the despite, and couldn’t understand why Wilder won’t sign to take the fight.
“If he knows he’s gonna beat me up why not give me what I’m asking for? If he has that much confidence why not give me what I’m asking for?”
The Mexican-American then claimed he was in great shape and keen for the contest.
“Wilder I’m right here training man. I’m not going to put out any more videos because the more videos I put out the less you’re gunna way pay me cause I’m the best I’ve been looking right now. I feel good. I’m hungry. I want you to come and fight me, bro.”
He then claimed he was the only man not scared to take on the fearsome puncher.
“I’m not scared. Everyone else is scared. Every other person you fight with fights scared. Not me. Fighting with me you’re going to have to take risks.”
Wilder’s next move is eagerly anticipated and, should a fight with Anthony Joshua not happen, Ruiz would present a more than solid fallback option.
