Four very testing months have passed since Carl Frampton’s last scheduled fight was due, a bout with Mexican Andres Gutierrez was cancelled.
This was after the former 2 weight World Champion and pride of Northern Ireland surprisingly failed the weight by a pound. Then Gutierrez slipped in the shower, sustaining severe facial cuts and bruisers forcing the cancellation. Much has happened since then, a split with manager Barry McGuigan and trainer son Shane has added to his problems.
This weekend we are promised a new rejuvenated, back in love with boxing Frampton, as his new promoter Frank Warren brings him back to Belfast this Saturday 18th November to highlight the rebirth of the Jackal.
Frampton also has a new trainer in the very capable hands of Salford’s former British, Commonwealth and European Champion Jamie Moore and he has based himself in Manchester to prepare for this fight.

His opponent at the SSE Arena is tough Mexican Horacio Garcia who has a credible record of 33 wins in his 37 fights with 24 knockouts. He is also taller and younger than Frampton and has never been stopped, although he hasn’t campaigned near the lofty level of the two weight world champion, he nevertheless provides a sizeable test.
Frampton faces not just his opponent this weekend but also the immense pressure to perform in his home town where he has always had such amazing support, but for the first time in his excellent career he does so without his former manager and Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan.
Speaking to the 5 Live podcast, Shane McGuigan says he doesn't expect to ever speak to Carl Frampton again. #boxing

Massive changes for Frampton as he starts his quest to regain his featherweight title he won in New York last year and lost in Las Vegas in January this year to the excellent Leo Santa Cruz. There is also terrific match ups with IBF champion Lee Selby or WBC king Gary Russell Jnr on the Horizon.
The build up and final preparations this week are therefore so very important, Carl Frampton can ill afford any last minute problems and needs to be in the physical and mental shape of his life, this fight could prove to be the most important of his illustrious career and he needs not just a win but a very impressive performance in front of his beloved Belfast fans.

Pressure indeed, but the very likeable Frampton who always has his feet firmly planted on the ground and is as tough as they come will rise to the occasion to put on a display the fans of Belfast need and send out the message:
