‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton is fresh from capturing the interim WBO featherweight title. The Nothern Ireland fan favourite, recorded the 25th victory of his professional fighting career when he usurped former 4-weight world champion, Nonito Donaire.
The win did not come without its shaky moments, however. Frampton was rocked in the eleventh round and had to be smart to close out a victory on the cards.
Reflecting on the victory, Frampton said he unveiled facets of his game that nobody really knew he had in his locker.
Hey Belfast! It's been an amazing trip. Thank you for your love and support. Before I leave, I'd love to meet you all for a proper goodbye. Meet me at Crown Bar tonight about 8ish! pic.twitter.com/fei4J1Qhrd

“It showed a different side to me.”
“I’m a boxer and I can box if I want to. I’ve got a whole lot of sides to my game and I think I showed that. It was a masterclass at times.”
“I had a simple game plan, there was nothing too scientific about it – use my jab from the outside and when I got close, to stay close.”
“I knew I was the stronger man and I started to bully him a bit on the inside.”
Frampton says the key to victory was his jab and imposing his superior physicality.
“It was simple boxing, it was a jab on the outside and when I got close to stay close and use my physical presence and that was it.”
“I knew he was dangerous and my plan, although it was simple, it worked to a T.”
“It was a pretty decent performance.”
“I just felt so fresh. I didn’t feel tired at all. It was the best camp I’ve ever had and the most scientific approach. That’s credit to my trainer Jamie Moore and everyone.”
Victory means Frampton will get to realise a goal in finally fighting at Windsor Park, Belfast in his next fight this upcoming August.
“It’s going to be hard to describe, I can’t wait,” Frampton said after his 25 career win.

Frampton says he is open to either utilising his position as the interim WBO champion to challenge the organization’s champion, Oscar Valdez who recently defeated Bury slugger Scott Quigg.
On the other hand, Frampton says the idea of taking on the winner of the Selby vs Warrington IBF world featherweight title clash.

“I’m excited about it already and I don’t even know my opponent is.”
“Valdez, I’d love Valdez, Selby, Warrington – I’d love any of those.
“Leo Santa Cuz isn’t going to happen because he’s fighting Abner Mares in June. Listen, I want a world title and that’s it.”
