Frank Warren has announced that there will be a boxing card two days before Christmas in Saudi Arabia.
The show looks set to mark Warren’s second outing in partnership with Riyadh Season and the boxing businessmen in Saudi following Francis Ngannou’s crossover contest against Tyson Fury.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion entered the professional boxing ring for the first time and, to the surprise of almost all, gave the undefeated Brit a run for his money.
Fury was knocked down in the third round and failed to establish the control that fans are so used to seeing in his contests. It was a split decision win for him despite Ngannou’s successes.
Next up was – according to Fury himself – supposed to be the undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk on December 23, but the tough ten rounds led his team to push the fight back.
With that now expected for February, this show takes its place with more news expected soon as to the main event and undercard. The veteran promoter told TalkSPORT that it would be a ‘historic night in boxing.’
“There’s gonna be a big night in December, and we’ll be announcing very soon. It will be massive. You’re gonna love it. I can’t give you all the information at the moment, but everything’s going in the right direction for it to be a historical night in boxing.”
“It’s gonna feature boxers from all over the world. You will be surprised by the names. There’s some great British fighters too.”
Whilst no indication has been given as to who will compete, there have been rumours circling that both Martin Bakole and Joseph Parker will fight in the nation again.
