Frank Warren is keen to get Joe Joyce back out after a win in his comeback fight this past weekend.
Joyce is rebuilding after a tough 2023 in which he took back-to-back losses to Zhilei Zhang. Not only did he lose, but he was also knocked down and knocked out for the first two times in his career.
After some online beef with Martin Bakole in recent days, this past weekend he took on Kash Ali and boxed cautiously to start with but eventually got the stoppage win late on. Speaking to Boxing Social, Frank Warren assessed the performance.
He’s coming off two loses, let’s say how it is, and it took him quite while to get his rhythm, get his mojo going. He did what he had to do at the end. I think if he’d have pushed him a bit earlier he’d have gotten the stoppage but looks he”s got the cobwebs out of his system so it’s now on to the next one.
He was then asked if Joyce still had what it takes to win at world level and Warren named who he thought would be a good next contest.
“I think there is a great fight between him and Joe Parker, a great rematch to made there, and you’ll find out then.”
Joyce and Parker have fought once before in a contest which ended with Parker being stopped. Parker however has been busy of late and has recorded two great points wins over big hitters Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang so a rematch for Joyce may be a tough ask.
