Frank Warren has given his thoughts on the number of pay-per-view sales that the potential mega fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could achieve – and it’s safe to say the Queensberry boss has high hopes.
Speaking to Talksport, Warren stated he believed the all-British heavyweight clash could do a whopping two million buys.
“Once they confirm they are interested and accept the position where we are, we will work collectively to maximise the income between us.”
“It depends what the price of the fight is, who knows what it would be price at. I personally think it could hit two million buys.”
Hype around Fury vs Joshua has reached fever pitch once again in the last couple of days, sparked by ‘The Gypsy King’ calling out AJ for a December fight on Monday.
After initially being brushed off by many fans as baseless trash talk, there does seem to have been significant steps taken towards the fight, with an official contract with purse splits reportedly sent to Joshua yesterday.
British fight fans will be glad to hear that, despite more lucrative site fees available elsewhere, Warren is confident a fight between Fury and Joshua can talk place in the UK.
“It will be in the UK and hopefully in November. That’s what we are looking at.”
“How we make it work is that Tyson insists the fight is in the UK. So, it’s got to work. He wants to fight here and deliver to the British fans”
Negotiations are in a very early stage and, as previous attempts to make the fight have shown, optimism should be cautious until an official announcement is made.
However, the noises coming from both teams appears to all be positive with Eddie Hearn seemingly “accepting” the 40% purse split offered to Joshua.
Momentum looks to be building towards the heavyweight fight of this generation taking place before the year is out.
