After a fantastic win last time out, Daniel Dubois is now well-placed to choose his next fight and Carl Froch has shared some advice for the British heavyweight.
Despite still being in the early stages of his career, Dubois has already been through a lot in the boxing ring. He’s come back from a broken eye socket after taking a knee and allowing himself to be counted out against Joe Joyce, through multiple knockdowns to win with his own knockout against Kevin Lerena before falling short in a world title challenge against Oleksandr Usyk.
Froch has given Dubois his flowers for that performance.
“Dubois showed that he was a really good fighter against Jarrell Miller. He showed a lot of maturity in his combination punches, in keeping his opponent at a distance. He let himself get backed up, but controlled the pace and didn’t exhaust himself, which I think was what Miller was waiting for to happen.”
He then mused on what he believes would be a sensible next step for the big-hitting contender.
“I think potentially a Joe Joyce fight could be a good option for Dubois, just to correct that one. I don’t know about Joe Joyce but I’m sure he still wants to fight at a top level even after his losses to Zhang.”
Joyce did fare well after his victory over Dubois by securing wins over the likes of Joseph Parker, but then took his own back-to-back losses against Zhilei Zhang.
