The now retired, former 3-time super-middleweight world champion is now an expert pundit for Sky Sports in his homeland. ‘The Cobra’ delivered a glowing endorsement of the WBA light-heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol.
His stock is gradually rising following four fights in 2017. All of which, was televised on the U.S’s major television networks in the form of HBO and Showtime.
Andre ‘S.O.G’ Ward recently hung up his gloves with his perfect record still intact. With that decision, Ward relinquished his unified WBA, WBO and IBF world light-heavyweight titles.
That freed up space in the division for fighters to get world title opportunities. This at a time when Ward seemingly had a death grip on the light heavyweight division.
Froch was a fighter who made a name for himself as someone who was always prepared to take on the best. However, even ‘The Cobra’ shared he would not like to be opposite the ferocious Russian.
Additionally, Carl Froch made the suggestion that the rapid rise of Bivol could be a major contributing factor towards Andre Ward’s decision to hang up his gloves.
“I think Dmitry Bivol is going to be great. He has a cool and calm demeanour and he oozes confidence.”
Froch paid particular focus toward the Russian’s cool demeanour.
“Not arrogant or nonchalant, he is just relaxed. He is so precise, so accurate with his work, he’s lethal.”
“Put him in with Sergey Kovalev down the line and you will see how good he is,” Froch told Sky Sports.
“I have a feeling Bivol helped Andre Ward make his retirement decision. I don’t say it very often, but I’ve seen something in Bivol that I wouldn’t want to stand in front of;” Froch concluded.
