Tyson Fury made an appearance on Sky One’s Soccer PM Saturday evening show. First and foremost on Tyson Fury’s mind was to respond to the ongoing bitterness between himself and Anthony Joshua while also outlining his plans moving forward.
Tyson Fury began by explaining that the new year will be the start of a new chapter in ‘The Gypsy King’s story.
“2018 is going to be a big year. A turn around year,” Fury explained.
Fury has been out of the ring for more than two full years since dethroning Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015. Following that fight Tyson Fury tested positive for Benzoylecgonine, a primary component in cocaine which had led to his imposed hiatus from the ring.
Touching on the path he must take back to achieving glory, Tyson was very frank in his admission that history suggests it will be very difficult. However, Fury maintains that with his mindset and abilities, it can happen.
“Two years out of the ring, there has only been Muhammad Ali and a few others that have come back and have been successful after a long period of time.”
“And they probably didn’t live the life I’ve lived outside of boxing.”
“Outside of boxing, I am not an athlete at all. I am anything but an athlete.”
“Its going to be a hard road back, but I’m more than capable of doing it,” Fury added.

Fury also discussed what the ultimate goal in his planned comeback is, as Fury has been involved in a war of words with multiple heavyweight contenders.
Among the names Fury has shared a recent back and forth with are, Anthony Joshua, Tony Bellew, Deontay Wilder, Shannon Briggs and David Price to name just a handful.
But Fury shared he intends to appease the public demand and fight the fights that people most want to see.
“It is whatever the people want to see,” Fury stated.
Tyson Fury also shared what is different about his mindset now and his mindset before enduring his lengthy hiatus from the squared circle.
“The first time around, It was all about winning belts and becoming the best in the division. I done that after I beat an 11-year reigning champion, which I didn’t really have a prayer in doing.”
“This time around, it is going to be about something different. I want to be one of those fighters that go in there and fight people that nobody wants to fight.”
“It is not just about an Anthony Joshua fight, there are plenty of other fights out there that could be entertaining.”

Fury was again pressed however on a match-up with Joshua, Fury was asked to detail how a fighter goes about approaching that match-up tactically. ‘The Gypsy King’ jokingly retorted that “You just get your a** kicked!” The response earned a rapturous response from the crowd.
Fury did however, elaborate by saying ” It is heavyweight boxing, its about one punch. Although I haven’t got that one punch knockout. I do have b***s like King Kong and a heart of steel”
“I am a pretty hard character to beat in the ring. With my unorthodox approach to everything, it comes out as a bit of a shock to everybody. I am anything but textbook,” Fury concluded.
