WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has weighed in on the age-old debate as to who is the greatest heavyweight of all-time ahead of his historic undisputed title clash against Oleksandr Usyk.
‘The Gypsy King’ aims to become the first undisputed four-belt title holder in the history of the sports’ most glamourous division when he faces Usyk in May, after the original February 17 date was postponed due to Fury suffering a cut in sparring.
Before the fight was postponed, Fury told DAZN Boxing that he truly does not care about where he ranks amongst the greats, believing that placing himself on such lists indicates that his time in the ring is coming to an end, when that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Who cares? No, [I don’t care at all]. I don’t care where you all put me because it’s all just someone’s opinion, they are like a***holes, everyone’s got one. Put me at the bottom [if you like].
“Wherever they want to put me now, put me a thousand spaces lower. I don’t care about history because it means that you are finished, I’m active and I am enjoying what I am doing.”
“Some idiot with a computer who has never had a fight in his life, never been slapped, never been knocked out, nothing – his opinion on who is a good fighter and who isn’t? Come on.”
Fans will be hoping that the Fury vs. Usyk undisputed clash is able to go ahead in May without any further delays.
