George Foreman has revealed the fighter who, for his money, possess more power than any other heavyweight of the current generation.
‘Big George’ is widely regarded himself as one of the heaviest punchers of all time, with a remarkable 68 of his 76 wins coming inside the distance.
With regards to modern heavyweights, it should perhaps come as no surprise that Foreman named former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder as the hardest hitter of them all.
“Now Wilder, he comes off the mound with that height, and that right hand comes in there it’s like a steaming locomotive! You better duck, and if you can’t duck – you better not get in there.”
“If you’re in the way, you’re going down. I’ve seen a lot of power with Deontay Wilder, more power than anyone else in the heavyweight division.”
‘The Bronze Bomber’ boasts an even higher knockout percentage than the legendary Foreman, having stopped every man he ever stepped in the ring with – bar Tyson Fury.
And it was Fury’s remarkable rise from the canvas in the twelfth round of his first fight with Wilder that illustrated to Foreman that he was a special fighter.
“When he [Fury] go up from that shot, I was shocked. I said, “no way!” So that tells you there’s another kind go a creature out there, this guy can really fight.”
“They call him ‘The Gypsy King,’ he’s more than that.”
Fury and Wilder went on to share one of the best heavyweight trilogies of the modern era, from which the Brit emerged with two victories following a controversial draw in their first meeting.
It remains unclear who either man will face next, however, and there have even been sensational reports of a potential fourth fight between them.
