Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia took to the scales ahead of their 136lb contest in Las Vegas, with Ryan Garcia comfortably making the weight that many believe could be a hindrance come fight night.
Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) logged 135.1lb whilst Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) was slightly heavier at 135.5lb. Neither man looked like they had particularly struggled, and Garcia said he ‘felt strong.’

When things were calmed down, the man from Baltimore with one of the most impressive stoppage ratios in the sport promised violence.
“Punishment. Knock out. It’s going to be crazy. Don’t blink your eye, don’t get no popcorn, don’t get no drink, none of that. Focus on the fight.”
Tensions visibly rose at the final presser this week and continued here. As we’ve seen so many times before, the two men want nothing other than to hear the first bell.
Much has been made about the catchweight in the lead up to the fight, and even more about the rehydration clause that will see Garcia contractually only allowed to have gained 10lb on the morning of the fight.
The Californian was fighting at 130lb until midway through 2018 when he moved up to lightweight for seven fights. In 2022, he fought both his fights around 140lb, stating that he may never fight below that again.
His decision to do so has been commended, and made, according to him, for the good of the sport. There’s also the one-sided rematch clause in ‘Tank’s favour that backs that statement up.
Whatever the conditions, fans are in for a treat come Saturday night. With the weight made and all the talking done, a special fight awaits.
