Gervonta Davis is arguably the biggest name in boxing after his victory over Ryan Garcia.
The two young Americans recently put their undefeated records on the line whilst in their prime – something rarely seen in the sport today.
If there was a debate as to who who was the biggest star before the first bell, there certainly isn’t now – Davis put in a dominant performance to stop his opponent in the seventh round.
Garcia started strong but over committed early and was punished with a perfectly timed left hand, sending him to the canvas for only the second time in his career. From that moment on ‘King Ryan’ looked a little hesitant to let his hands go and ‘Tank’ dominated proceedings, pot shotting Garcia every time he launched an attack.
Just as the young Californian looked to be regaining some confidence, Davis caught him with a body shot and, after a short delay, Garcia took a knee – the rest is history.
Floyd Mayweather, once promoter of Davis, accompanied the Baltimore native into the ring and was in his corner throughout the fight. The two have had their public spats on social media since parting ways, but that now appears to be water under the bridge.
Going into the seventh round, which would turn out to be the last of the fight, newly released footage shows Mayweather asking his protégé about Garcia.
“Tank, tell me bout him. What he got?”
Davis’ reply was short and sweet.
“Nothing”.

Just like his mentor, Davis is now considered the hottest property in boxing, with the fight reportedly selling north of 1 million pay-per-views and generating the 5th largest boxing gate ever in Las Vegas.
