Richard Riakporhe (14-0, 10 KOs) may be just one win away from his first world title fight.
The British cruiserweight takes on Fabio Turchi tomorrow night, live on Sky Sports, in an IBF eliminator. Frenchman Arsen Goulamirian (26-0, 18 KOs) holds the title and his promoter Yohan Zaoui is keen on matching his man up against ‘The Midnight Train’.
“Goulamirian vs Riakporhe would be a very exciting fight for the French and the English fans,” Zaoui told Sky Sports.
“A pure destroyer facing a wide-ranging puncher, both unbeaten who fight for the world title, guaranteed success. If Sky Sports and Ben Shalom think the same as me, then let’s go, I like it.”
The chat all week has centered around the unbeaten Riakporhe joining the world stage but at yesterday’s final press conference the 32-year-old said he was not looking past Turchi.
“We aren’t taking Fabio Turchi lightly, we made sure we covered all areas in training to prepare for this fight so we can go in and deliver what we want to deliver on Saturday night. Every single fight is so important now.”
“We wanna bring explosive nights, explosive finishes, we wanna show the world how great we are. So, we’re going to bring a big knockout on Saturday night.”
