Groves went on to ridicule Eubank Jr’s technique and question the thinking behind his methods inside the ring when he stated “What I like about Eubank is that he will punch from his ankles from the get go but that’s because he doesn’t have the boxing brain. Groves also went on to suggest that the gulf in class between them will prove too big an ask for Eubank Jr; “He is stepping up big time against me. He’s not good enough.”

‘The Saint’ also touched on his history with the father of his semifinal rival, British boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr. “His dad has always had a lot of respect for me, he’s been quite kind to me”. Groves went on to share the details of his last meeting with him at the draw for the tournament. “He had the bow tie on, the shoes, the Louis Vuitton case under his arm and he said, ‘Oh George, you better not beat my son’ and I thought, ‘He’s conforming already! He knows’ George jokingly suggested.
