After many injuries and cancelled fight dates, David Haye confirms his training methods have gone through a serious change.
New coach Ismael Salas is making sure the 37-year old is training accordingly to his age and not the wrong way like Haye has done in the past. The Londoner has admitted he is training a lot smarter these days and not always ‘pushing it to the max’ like he’s done in the past.
“He’s [Salas] been working from the feet up. He’s been making sure that my legs are in the right position which in turn keeps my knee, my hips, rotation, rhythm, timing,” said Haye to Sky Sports.
Haye said he’s doing something totally new and different than ever before.
“We’ve been literally working month on end. Day in, day out on improving every aspect of my game. I’m throwing punches that I’ve never thrown before. Throwing punches in a way I’ve never thrown them before. I believe right now I am better than I have ever been for many, many years.
“So I just can’t wait for May 5th so I can show the world what I have left,” told the former world champion.

Trainer Salas spoke briefly at the latest Bellew-Haye press conference and promised to deliver the goods on May 5 at the O2 in London.
“We’ve been through eight months of work with David Haye. We work no nice talk. No beautiful talk. But we do what we say and mean,” said the trainer.
Bellew scored an 11th-round TKO victory over Haye in March 2017. The two fighters were schedulled to a rematch on December 17, 2017 but the Bermondsey boxer was forced to step aside due to a bicep injury.
Haye has confirmed that if he doesn’t defeat Bellew decisively on May 5 at the O2 in London, he will retire as a professional boxer.
