Eddie Hearn has responded to comments from Otto Wallin regarding his fight with Anthony Joshua and the contractual rematch clause.
Wallin has done plenty of talking in the build-up to his fight with Joshua on The Day of Reckoning card in Saudi Arabia on December 23.
The Swedish southpaw has questioned Joshua’s mental state and also spoken of his unhappiness at a rematch clause in the fight contract.
The fight is the biggest of his career following wins over Murat Gassiev and Dominic Breazeale and an impressive performance against Tyson Fury back in 2019 that saw him push the WBC champion hard across 12 rounds and almost stop The Gypsy King due to a bad cut. He would ultimately lose by unanimous decision.
Speaking to iFL TV, ‘AJ’s promoter Hearn has now reacted to the confident Wallin’s complaint about the rematch clause.
“Otto Wallin has opened the chocolate bar and out comes the golden ticket. He’s walked into a multi-million dollar payday. Congratulations. For getting this chance, if you win, you are going to get a bigger multi-million dollar pay dah. Oh, boo-hoo, is there a rematch clause and you’re going to make millions of dollars?”
He then issued a warning to Wallin, believing the rematch wouldn’t be necessary.
“He’s giving it the big one. He talking the talk. AJ’s going to smash him up. We’re going to see who is mentally weak in Saudi Arabia on December 23. I don’t like what he’s saying.”
