Ten-and-a-half years since his last fight and a month away from his 59th birthday, Evander Holyfield will return to the ring to face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, next Sunday.
Holyfield steps in for another comebacking veteran Oscar De La Hoya, 48, who contracted Covid-19 and was hospitalised last week. De La Hoya vs Belfort was originally due to take place at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, but the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction Holyfield as a replacement and the Triller Pay-Per-View bill was hastily relocated to Florida.
Holyfield vs Belfort is a real fight, taking place over eight two-minute rounds, and will count on The Real Deal’s pro record, currently standing at 44-10-2, 29 KOs and 1 NC. Brazilian Belfort, 44, is 1-0, 1 KO in the boxing discipline after a first-round win in Salvador 15 years ago.
The Triller bill also features the exhibition bout between two-weight champion David Haye and friend and nightclub owner Joe Fournier, as well as former IBF title challenger Jono Carroll against Andy Vences in a well-matched 130lbs clash.
