Remember when Andre Dirrell’s coach and uncle Leon Lawson attacked Jose Uzcategui after the fight?
The incident that ended up in almost every sport shows highlight reel is now resolved. Dirrell and Uzcategui will fight again according to the sanctioning body, IBF.
“The IBF has also determined that it was inappropriate for the Referee to advise Dirrell of the decision of the bout prior to the official decision being announced. Based on the above, the IBF considers the Referees failure to determine whether the foul was intentional or accidental and that the Referee informed Dirrell of the official decision before the decision was announced, the IBF has ruled that the Referees conduct was inappropriate and will grant an immediate rematch pursuant to rule 5.K.”
Lawson attacked the Venezuelan fighter because Uzcategui had knocked out Dirrell after the bell.
The trainer has since been suspended by every major sanctioning body in boxing and he’s also facing criminal charges.
