Jack Catterall finally gained revenge on bitter rival Josh Taylor as he came out on top in their long-awaited grudge match.
The fight was taking place in front of an electric atmosphere the First Direct Arena in Leeds, with Catterall earning the win via unanimous decision.
It had been a hostile build-up to the fight, dating back to their initial bout over two years ago, which ended in extremely controversial fashion.
Taylor came out on top via split decision to retain his undisputed super-lightweight titles during that bout in February 2022, although most observers felt that Catterall had done enough in the fight to come out on top and become world champion.
It led to months and months of heated back and forth between the two men, leading to physical confrontations at press conferences, and even families getting involved in the war of words.
This time around there were no world titles on the line, with bragging rights up for grabs instead. Catterall started the rematch well, landing a number of big shots that caught Taylor off balance at times.
The fight came to life in the third round, as both fighters were rocked by power punches, before Catterall began to take over and had plenty of success in rounds four and five.
Taylor responded well as the action went into the second half of the fight, but Catterall ensured he gave as good as he got as the bout entered the closing rounds.
The biggest shot of the fight came in round 11 when Catterall rocked the Scotsman, but Taylor was able to see out the round and survive, with the fight then going to the scorecards.
The judges scored it 117-111, 117-111, 116-113, giving Catterall the win and seeing him avenge the loss that haunted him from two years prior.
The possibilities now appear to be endless for Catterall, with promoter Eddie Hearn previously hinting at potential fights against the likes of WBC champion Devin Haney, and IBF champion Subriel Matias.
On the undercard, Chev Clarke won the vacant British cruiserweight title with an eighth round stoppage win over Ellis Zorro, Paddy Donovan secured a ninth round knockout against Lewis Ritson, while Gary Cully defeated Francesco Patera by unanimous decision.
There were also victories for George Liddard who earned a first round knockout win against Graham McCormack, Giorgio Visioli who stopped Sergio Odabai in the fourth round, and Emmanuel Buttigieg who beat Anas Isarti on points.
