Jack Catterall and Josh Taylor have already come to blows at a press conference to announce their fight and now Catterall has explained why he slapped his soon-to-be opponent.
The two boxers have a real rivalry that dates back almost two years to when Taylor controversially won on points to defend all four of his world titles against Catterall.
Many people thought Catterall won that night and ever since there has been heated back and forth between the two and loud cries for a rematch, which is now finally on.
Speaking to IFL TV, Catterall spoke about slapping Taylor at the press conference to announce it.
“He turned up half an hour late and I think it was like a little colouring book with some crayons. I didn’t find it offensive or funny, I just thought it was a bit strange, there’s clearly no learning difficulties with me.
“I like colouring, I like crayons, but I thought it was offensive to turn up over 30 minutes late and bring a shit gift so I gave him a slap so he knows its unacceptable. Bring a better gift next time.”
He then said he was unmoved by the insults from Taylor.
“He’s going down the line that I’m, I don’t know the word, thick or simple. It doesn’t carry any weight. There’s not much he can cling on to. He’s trying pathetic insults. I’m not that emotionally engaged with him. He can say what he wants but all that matters is April 27th.”
Two years of wait for this fight is now almost over as the final countdown to fight night begins and Taylor reveals the one mistake he won’t be making again.
