Carl Frampton suffered his first professional loss this past January. He was outpointed by Leo Santa Cruz in their rematch that left “The Jackal” pondering what went wrong. He also lost his WBA Super Featherweight World title during the process.
However, this weekend Frampton returns to the ring without any hesitation. He takes on Andres Gutierrez and it is without a doubt a must win for “The Jackal” in front of his home crowd in Belfast.
“I’ve spoken many times about the atmosphere in the Odyssey Arena. I don’t think it can be created anywhere else in the world, and even in bigger stadiums it just isn’t the same. It certainly has a positive effect on me, and I think it may have a negative effect on my opponent,” said Frampton in a press conference.
Frampton may have been humbled a bit in his previous loss but he claims he will be the boss this time around.
“I respect Andres Gutierrez, and he’s a top fighter. If he beats me, he becomes a big name in boxing. It’s up to me to not let that happen. This is my city. I’m the boss, and I’m going to win,” commented the confident “Jackal”.
Frampton and Gutierrez will fight this Saturday at the SSE Arena in Belfast.
