On Saturday night, controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, added Nate Diaz onto the list of former MMA superstars whom he holds a professional boxing win over, outpointing the much-loved UFC veteran over ten rounds unanimously.
‘The Problem Child’ scored a knockdown in round five to establish his dominance and secure a clear lead on the scorecards as he went past eight rounds for the first time in his career.
He did well to negate Diaz’s constant pressure throughout the bout, but particularly in the final couple of rounds.
The victory put Paul back into winning column after suffering his first defeat to the lone recognised boxer on his record, Tommy Fury, and stretched his record to 7-1 (5-0 against former UFC stars).
One avid watcher of the spectacle was Conor McGregor, a rival of both men, who has since claimed that the contest was ‘abysmal’, labelling Paul as ‘garbage’ and challenging Diaz to a trilogy showdown in the UFC.
Although, when asked of a potential scrap with McGregor at the post-fight presser, Paul denied that he had any interest in facing the former two-division UFC champion and insinuating that he will strictly face boxers in the boxing ring from this point onwards, calling out undisputed 168lbs king, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

“I don’t care about that guy, he needs to go to rehab. I want Nate [Diaz] in MMA, I want more professional boxers and I want Canelo [Alvarez].”
For now, Alvarez will be concentrating on his ‘undisputed versus undisputed’ clash against Jermell Charlo, which will take place on September 30 in Las Vegas. He has previously laughed off a fight with Paul.
Meanwhile, Paul wants to rematch Diaz in the Octagon before possibly facing the winner of Tommy Fury’s upcoming fight with KSI, which is also scheduled for this Autumn.
