In the aftermath of his first career defeat, Jake Paul has shown his frustration after failing to defeat Tommy Fury, an opponent he believes is worse than Anderson Silva, but did praise the Brit for one feature of his game.
Tommy Fury claimed the win after doing enough to win 76-73 on two of the judges scorecards, resulting in a split-decision victory for the Brit.
After defeat, Paul revealed that he was sick during his training camp and also suffered an injury to his arm, in attempts to justify his underwhelming performance.
Now, on his YouTube Podcast, ‘The Problem Child’ showed further exasperation, as he explained that his loss was simply down to him and not due to the qualities of his opponent.
The controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer went on to say that he believes his fight against Silva, which he won, was tougher than his loss to Fury, but that Tommy surprised him with how many punches he threw.
“That is what is p***ing me off the most, that it had nothing to do with him [Fury] it had everything to do with me.
He wasn’t that great, at all, I think Anderson [Silva] was tougher than him, and I figured out that puzzle.
He threw a lot of punches, that’s his biggest thing.”
It seems that Jake Paul will have the chance to avenge his maiden defeat, after announcing he will activate his rematch clause and recent reports suggest that talks are now underway for a rematch in July.
However, there are alternate options, with Jake’s brother, Logan, suggesting that he would step in and ‘kill’ Fury. Meanwhile, Matchroom promoter, Eddie Hearn, has suggested that Jake Paul should avoid the rematch and instead fight his fellow influencers, with British YouTuber, KSI, waiting in the wings.
