Many people have been wondering whether the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will be scored or considered an exhibition and now and updated has been provided.
Tyson has been ling retired and is now 58 years old. He did have a fight against Roy Jones Jr a few years on but that was an exhibition. On the undercard that night was a certain Jake Paul, then a newly converted YouTuber trying his hand at boxing for the first time.
Years later and he is now a big name in the sport whatever people make of his record. He has fought the likes of KSI, Joe Fournier and Tommy Fury and has built plenty of momentum and bright new eyes to the sport, not least because he has also been promoting female great Amanda Serrano and disrupting the industry with fairer pay for his fighters.
Speaking on the MMA Hour, host Ariel Helwani has shared what he knows.
“They’re still working on a few important details. Is it pro or exhibition? They want pro but that’s up to the Texas Commission. I’m told heavyweight rounds, they’re working on that as well. I’m told there is absolutely no head gear involved.
“This is going to look like a typical boxing match but is it an exhibition like Tyson’s last fight against Roy Jones in 2020, or is it just a normal pro heavyweight fight with no strings attached.”
Although nothing is decided yet it is telling that both men want this to be a legitimate boxing contest and Ricky Hatton only sees it going one way.
