Jake Paul is as confident as ever ahead of his fight with Brazilian MMA superstar, Anderson Silva. The young YouTuber turned fighter is predicting an early night at the office this Saturday in Arizona.
Paul faces the toughest test of his brief stint in the sport in Silva. Although from a different fighting background, the Brazilian actually has a professional boxing record – something no other Paul opponent can boast. Despite the step up in competition, the young fighter from Cleveland isn’t doubting himself.
SHOWTIME recently released their All Access documentary in the lead up to the fight. On watching tape on his opponent, Paul is of the opinion the strategy Silva employed in his victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr won’t work come Saturday.
“Yeah I’ve seen this a bunch of times and every time I see it I just find more openings. He loves to get in that corner and dance – I’m not going to play that s**t, it’s my ring, it’s my fight, I’m the A-Side for a reason – he’s not going to come in there and do that s**t, I’m not going to feed into it.”
He went on to hype himself up, convinced that he will get the stoppage.
“Knockout of the year incoming.”
Paul isn’t a stranger to the award – at least from ESPN. He proudly accepted their honour in 2021 for a right hand that put retired MMA star Tyron Woodley flat on his face. A lot of fans weren’t happy given that neither man had faced a professional boxer before.
Still, whatever you think of Jake Paul and his campaign in the sport, there’s no doubt that he’s a showman that comes to entertain. Whether or not he can deliver on this latest promise will be revealed this weekend. For what it’s worth, the bookies have it close.
