Former IBF World super middleweight champion James DeGale is eager to get another shot at Caleb Truax. The relatively unknown challenger from Minnesota managed to cause one of the biggest upsets of 2017 when he beat ‘Chunky’ on foreign soil in London and took DeGale’s title with him to America.
Happy New Year! 2017 was a tough one but through adversity comes strength. See you in 2018! 👊🏽 🙌🏽

Speculations about DeGale’s career and training staff began immediately after the fight as many thought changes were to ensue after the disappointing performance.
But from what we can understand from the Londoner’s social media feed, he’s still with his long time trainer Jim McDonnell and DeGale is eyeing a rematch against Truax for the IBF super middleweight title.
To prove he is serious, DeGale has not removed ‘IBF super middleweight champion of the world’ from his Twitter bio.
Naaah it's alright mate I'll leave it… I'll be getting it back in a couple of months! #2TimeWorldChamphttps://t.co/0QpStL0r0V

Truax has previously commented that he would be ready to defend his title against DeGale if need be.
In his post-fight speech DeGale admitted that he rushed his comeback too early after his shoulder surgery. The 31 year-old Olympic gold medallist visibly struggled against Truax in their fight and was clearly affected by ring rust.
DeGale was also rumoured to take on the winner of Adonis Stevenson versus Badou Jack but it seems like the Londoner is more eager to seek revenge against the new IBF World super middleweight champion.
2017 was filled with ups and downs for DeGale who started the year with a tough fight against Jack in January that ended in a draw.
‘Chunky’ then had to go under the knife and get shoulder surgery and eventually lost his title in December to the underdog Truax.
This year DeGale undoubtedly has high hopes of getting back his spot as the number one super middleweight in the world.
