Super-welterweight champion Jermell Charlo would consider a move to middleweight if it made sense for his career and financially.
‘Iron Man’ defends his three world titles in a highly anticipated undisputed clash against WBO champion Brian Castano on July 17 in San Antonio. Either man would create history with a win by becoming the first undisputed champion at 154lbs in the four-belt era. Should that be Charlo then a decision will have to be made regarding his future and his ambitions.
“I would like to fight anyone that would like to fight me that makes sense,” Charlo told Brian Custer’s Last Stand Podcast.
“This is a tough sport, it’s dangerous and I’m at the peak, I’m at the top. I could stay here, defend, fight the next guys and just beat everybody If the money is making sense, I move up to 160.”
A move to middleweight would see him join the same weight class as his twin brother Jermall who is currently the WBC champion at 160lbs.
“My twin brother is at 160, we can accomplish goals together. It’s all depending on how hungry I am for something like that,” said Jermell.
