Joe Joyce has had his say on Tyson Fury’s upcoming title defence against Derek Chisora – and, perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s not much different to others in the sport.
‘The Juggernaut’ has been knocking at the door of heavyweight titles ever since his hugely impressive knockout performance against Joseph Parker, who had never been stopped before that night in Manchester.
Joyce is now WBO Interim Champion, which means he’s in line for a shot at Oleksandr Usyk’s belt. The’s being put on ice though, as Usyk fancies facing Fury for undisputed in the new year – despite some recent complications.
But first, Fury has to defend his own bet against an old foe in Derek Chisora – a man he’s already beaten twice earlier in his career, first by unanimous decision and second by stoppage after the latter retired in his corner.
The bout on December 3 is being treated as a warm-up of sorts for the champion, and Joyce, as per ES News, is yet another name in boxing who thinks ‘Del-Boy’ can’t do anything to win.
“No, he doesn’t win the fight. Zero [chance.]”
It’s likely that all of the naysayers will only spur ‘WAR’ Chisora on, who has definitely had a career resurgence since his losses to Fury. The Finchley fighter will be looking to upset the odds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3 no matter how much of a shot people give him.
As for Joyce, he’s in the market for an opponent and it’s unlikely he’ll wait around for Usyk to become available. The problem the 15-0 fighter is more likely to have now is finding someone in the division who think it’s worth the risk to step through the ropes with him.
