Joe Joyce will be the man to topple heavyweight kingpin Tyson Fury – well, thats if you believe what his mum, Marvel, has to say.
Joyce has been repeatedly linked to a fight with Queensberry stablemate Fury over the past few months, after he announced himself as a bonafide contender with a stunning stoppage win over Joseph Parker last September.
And the main woman in ‘The Juggernaut’s life was not shy in issuing a warning to Fury in a recent interview with The Mirror.
“He’s going to juggernaut Fury. He’s coming to knock you off the throne. The Juggernaut is coming to get you.”
The Putney puncher was raised solely by his mother from the age of two, and said he believes he has inherited a lot of the qualities that have brought him success from her.
“I get my drive to succeed from her. I’ve always been inspired by her determination – she doesn’t let anything get in the way of what she wants to do.”
Although Joyce would no doubt prove a tough test, Fury appears to be honing in on an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk, with talks reportedly progressing well for a meeting in early spring.
Joyce holds the WBO interim world title, meaning the winner of a potential fight between Fury and Usyk would have to face him or vacate the belt.
The 38 year old was ringside for Fury’s successful WBC defence against Derek Chisora in December, before gatecrashing a face off between ‘The Gypsy King’ and unified world champion Usyk.
