Like many boxing fans, Roy Jones Jr would love to see Devin Haney take on Gervonta Davis and now he has mapped out a way he thinks it could be made.
Both of these young stars are unbeaten. Haney has become an undisputed world champion at lightweight and he is currently the WBC super-lightweight title holder, while Davis is also a multi-weight champion who currently holds the WBA world lightweight title.
Speaking to FightHype, Jones explained how the fight could be made and it involved going to Saudi Arabia in search of the big money.
“Honestly I think it’s fair at 140, Tank has already fought at 140. If you’re going to do it, do it at 140. Everybody wants to get their advantages and Haney gets pretty big so everybody wants to take advantage of every opportunity that they can. To me, like I said, if anybody wants to fight anybody, go talk to Turki Al-Sheikh and Turki Al-Sheikh will make it happen.
“If I was fighting right now, I would go to Turki Al-Sheikh and say I want him, but he won’t fight me unless you paying the kind of money he thinks he deserves. So if Turki Al-Sheikh says yeh he wants that fight, let’s make it happen. That’s the way you do it.”
When asked to call the fight he couldn’t and said it was a 50-50.
“I don’t know, you pick ’em. Both are very good fighters. Both have a very high IQ, it’s a great fight the world deserves to see at 140.”
