Three-time world champion, Jorge Linares who is famously referred to as ‘The Golden Boy’. He will make his return to the ring this coming weekend.
He will look to make the third defence of his WBA and Lineal RING world lightweight titles against Marcito Gesta at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
His record stands at an impressive 43-3 and he has shared his goals of achieving yet another world title in the near future.

Linares says his goal is always to better his standing in the public perception.
He shared he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that recognition.
“Yes, of course, I dream of myself as a four-time champion of the world.”
“Every day I search for ways of giving my best in order to be recognized, be it as a four or five times champion.”
Despite the Venezuelan’s high standing in the boxing game, he has stressed maintaining his desire and motivation has been crucial to achieving success.

“The important thing is that I have the hunger, the yearning and the motivation that we can show for more every day, that we can achieve more”, commented Linares through a phone chat with the WBA from Las Vegas.
Linares also shared he is grateful for all the support he is receiving and gave praise to God for how his career is mapping out.
Linares once again underlined the importance of a good work ethic however when by redirecting his focus on working hard to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

A super-fight could be potentially in the pipeline for Linares with two stellar names floating in and around Linares’ domain. Linares says neither Garcia or Lomachenko will be central in his thoughts until he dispatches of the challenge from Merrcito Gesta.
“Today much is talked about Mikey García and Vasyl Lomachenko, but first I must defeat Merrcito Gesta and I think I am able to do that.”
