Teofimo Lopez says he hopes to return to the ring this summer and could face undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor.
Lopez hasn’t fought since losing his three world lightweight titles in November 2021. With his stay at 135lbs now over the 24-year-old is chasing similar glory at 140lbs.
One name that has been constantly mentioned by Lopez is Taylor but the Scot’s future at super-lightweight is up in the air after his below-par performance against Jack Catterall earlier this year.
Lopez told The Good Fight, hosted by Kate Abdo, that a fight between himself and Taylor is a possibility.
“We’re trying to make me and Taylor right now for undisputed. It looks like we’re working on some stuff.”
“Me fighting [for] a world title is definitely the next one,” he added. Lopez said his ambitions lie at super-lightweight and welterweight.
“I look forward to becoming undisputed again and again.
My goal is to be a three-time undisputed champion. I’m looking forward to coming back sometime in the summer, thinking about making it here in the West coast but it depends on who we’re fighting.”
