There is no love lost between Josh Warrington and Leigh Wood and the pair have had another fall out, this time at ringside of a recent event.
All this stems from the fact that they fought last October and although Wood won, Warrington feels he deserves a rematch. He was on top in the fight and on the scorecards but was caught with one big shot and sent spiralling to the canvas.
Although he got up, he turned away to walk back to his corner having heard the final bell but the referee decided that was because he wanted no more so he was controversially stopped.
The fight was strongly rumoured to be taking place at the City Ground, the home of Wood’s beloved Nottingham Forest, but as of yet that has not materialised.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Warrington explained about the latest run in between the two at the Manchester arena when Jordan Gill lost by 10th round knockout to Zelfa Barrett at the weekend.
“He walked past me before the fight started. I didn’t realise so I’ve turned round and we’re stood face to face and he said what’s happening then and I said you haven’t got to drive to Leeds, I’m here.
“He said listen I did you in the ring and I’ll do you outside and I said let’s go and he turned his back and walked away. He talks a load of sh*t to you guys on the cameras but when it comes to face-to-face he’s uncomfortable. If he’s comfortable let’s get the fight done already.”
It seems that financial issues are stalling the fight as both teams attempt to find the right size aren to host the event and generate sufficient income for both men to be paid what they want.
