Even though the wheels are set in motion for the rematch, Anthony Joshua advises Wladimir Klitschko to step aside.
This past weekend Joshua was attending a Q & A session and answered questions from the public. Klitschko still hasn’t given his official answer but it is expected that the Ukrainian will fight again. When asked about the rematch, Joshua had this to say:
“If I was Wladimir I would fight again, the type of fight it was, he probably thinks he can beat me and he has nothing to lose. If I was in his position I would fight again but I’m not Wladimir and I do not know what he wants to do,” said Joshua.
Joshua continued that he himself would advise ‘Dr Steelhammer’ to sit this one out and let the upcoming and current fighters take the stage.
“But, if I was speaking to Wladimir, I would say: ‘mate, it was a phenomenal performance, you were very good, but you did not win. Leave on a high and let the other guys do what they’re doing.’”
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has stated that the rematch ‘will most likely happen‘. The word from Klitschko’s camp is that they might use their clause to fight Joshua again.
