Anthony Joshua is adamant that he will beat Oleksandr Usyk and once again become world heavyweight champion.
The 32-year-old lost his WBA, IBF and WBO belts to the Ukrainian last September inflicting the second defeat on his career two years on from losing to Andy Ruiz Jr.
Joshua and Usyk are expected to rematch one another before the summer with ‘AJ’ set to be in the hands of a new trainer after seemingly parting ways with long-time coach Robert McCracken.
“Because I took a loss in my last fight, there’s been a lot of reconstruction happening in my team,” Joshua told StuffTV.
“You have to be angry at losing; it’s not acceptable. Losing keeps me motivated. I don’t want that to happen again.”
The 2012 Olympic Gold medallist bounced back after his crushing defeat to Ruiz by regaining his titles in their return fight in Saudi Arabia six months after the disaster in New York. Accomplishing the same feat against Usyk will not be easy. The current three-belt champion had far too much in his locker for Joshua at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium four months ago, but the Brit is fully confident he can once again become world heavyweight champion.
“I’ve come up short twice, but the majority of times I have overcome many obstacles,” he said.
“Next fight I’m going to beat him and I’m going to take those belts from him. And I’m going to reign again to become three-time heavyweight champion of the world… whether people like it or not.”
