Alen Babic haș weighed in on a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte, and is expecting fireworks if the two old foes meet in a ring once again.
Babic, who is managed by Whyte, told ID Boxing that he believes a rematch with Joshua would bring the best out of Whyte and a produce a fight to remember as a result.
“Dillian has the mindset for every fight – that it’s do or die. If you push an animal into a corner, it’ll bite – and Dillian Whyte can bite!”
“He’s a ticking bomb for anybody. If you get on his wrong side, you’re going to be f***ed.”
“I see Joshua boxing in that fight, Dillian feeling like he’s in a corner, then he’ll snap and all hell will break loose. I don’t think we’ve seen the real Dillian for the last few fights.”
“It’s a very good fight, I think it’s the perfect time in their careers to meet.”
The two Londoners met back in 2015 in a memorable British title clash where Joshua emerged with the Lord Lonsdale belt, inflicting a highlight reel knockout upon ‘The Bodysnatcher’ in the sixth round.
Both men are very much fighters on the rebuild at the moment, with Joshua looking to rebound from successive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk and question marks still hanging over Whyte after a shaky comeback fight against Jermaine Franklin in November.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has recently touted a rematch between the pair for this summer, before which Joshua will take on a lower level contender in March/April.
If Joshua and Whyte do end up squaring off for the second time in their professional careers, there is a sense that defeat for either would put to bed any lingering world title ambitions.
