This weekend, the undisputed lightweight title is up for grabs as Devin Haney travels to Australia once again to fight George Kambosos Jr. After a decisive first fight, many fans are expecting another comfortable victory for Haney, but Kambosos has other ideas.
After losing his belts to Haney, the Aussie has his heart set on revenge against the 23-year-old champion. In an interview with Sporting News Australia, George “Ferocious” Kambosos showed frustration at the tactics used by Haney in their first fight as well as implying that the referee didn’t allow the fight to flow.
This time out, Kambosos is hoping to give the fans ‘a real fight’:
“I don’t care what Devin Haney is doing, keeping his approach or changing his approach.”
“I just want a nice, good fight. I want a nice, fair fight, let’s hope that the referee lets the fight flow and gives the fans a real fight. Not a fight of holding, not a fight of ducking very low and the things that were done in that first fight. No excuses, whatever he is doing, no problem, we don’t focus on that.”
“We’re focussed on what I am doing, what I bring to the table.”
After Haney’s masterclass last time out, Kambosos is going into this weekend’s fight as a huge underdog who will be looking to upset the odds. He is still a dangerous man and Haney will have to be on the top of his game if he is to retain his undisputed status.
