Super-welterweight Kell Brook will be making his long-awaited comeback in front of what will no doubt be a capacity hometown crowd at the Sheffield Arena, when he faces unheralded American Mark DeLuca on Saturday night.
The ‘Special-One’, a former IBF welterweight champion, has been out of action since December 2018 when he registered an unconvincing albeit unanimous decision victory over Australian Michael Zerafa with John Fewkes in his corner.
After experiencing a frustrating 2019, with a proposed showdown against old nemesis Amir Khan falling by the wayside, Brook will surely be looking to unleash his frustration on and showcase his skills against DeLuca; someone who has only been defeated once in his career but should pose no significant problems for the former middleweight title challenger.
Therefore, expect the hometown favourite – now reunited with Dominic Ingle – to deliver a deliberate, spiteful beatdown; tagging the American virtually at will before stopping him inside four rounds.
His stablemate Kid Galahad also returns to action on the card against Claudio Marrero after unsuccessfully challenging Josh Warrington for the IBF featherweight title in June. Galahad was, according to some, unfortunate to have not been given the nod in his fight with Warrington, and will look to work his way back into title contention with an impressive victory over the seasoned Dominican.
