David Haye is making his comeback to the ring this December. It’s expected that ‘The Hayemaker’ will go against Hughie Fury should he beat WBO heavyweight champion, Joseph Parker.
But there is also a different challenger waiting to get his shot against Haye – UFC light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa(17-2, 15 KO’s).
The London based MMA fighter has expressed a great deal of interest in fighting Haye in a boxing match. He believes it’s a realistic idea especially since the announcement of Mayweather-McGregor.
“I’m looking forward to that and I’m confident that the fight would happen. It would be a couple of steps down from Mayweather-McGregor but it would be massive. Another cross-codes MMA, boxing fight,” said Manuwa according to boxingscene.com.
Thing is, the two parties have been in talks and apparently, Haye is very open to the idea and ready to fight the UFC knockout artist.
“We’ve discussed when Haye is ready and when he gets his injury sorted. Then we’ll fight. Until then, I’ll keep fighting in UFC. There is definitely something to it. We’ve talked and like the look of it, and we’ll try to work it out,” told the Londoner.
