Josh Warrington shocked the boxing world by capturing the IBF World featherweight title from Lee Selby at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds this past weekend.
Selby struggled to keep with up Warrington’s pressure and eventually lost the title after the split decision was announced in the Yorkshireman’s favour.
To the surprise of many, Selby looked off and was losing exchanges against the gritty challenger. Following the upset, the Welshman commented on his loss and revealed that making the featherweight limit had taken its toll.

“I’ve been making the featherweight limit for 10 years but it was just one fight too many at that weight and my performance badly reflected that,” wrote Selby.
The former world champion also confirmed that he will be switching to a new division.
“I will enjoy the summer with my family and then sit down with my team to plan the exciting new challenge of becoming a two weight world champion,” Selby concluded.
