Liam Smith became the first fighter to knock out Chris Eubank Jr earlier this year – but has admitted that he feels sorry for his rival following an interview given by his father, Chris Eubank Sr.
Smith stopped Eubank in the fourth round of their contest back in January, pulling off an upset in the eyes of the bookmakers and cracking the chin of the Brighton man like nobody else could.
Since defeat, Eubank has activated his rematch clause to force a second bout between he and the former super-welterweight world champion, but the grudge match has been postponed twice after Smith picked up an injury.
Yesterday, former two-division champion and British fighting legend, Eubank Sr, spoke to talkSPORT, labelling his son’s coaches as ‘PE Trainers’ and claiming that he would not have lost to Smith under his watch.
In response, ‘Beefy’ empathised with Eubank Jr for having to listen to his father’s comments on a regular basis.
All about him, clown. Makes you actually feel sorry for Chris jnr, having to deal with his dads ego everyday in the gym, as well as the his own ego. Wow https://t.co/knahBeHVDD

No new date has been confirmed for Smith-Eubank II, but it is still expected to take place this year according to the promotion.
The original card will still go ahead in Manchester, now being headlined by Savannah Marshall’s undisputed super-middleweight title challenge against current champion, Franchon Crews-Dezurn.
However, to add to the woes of BOXXER and Ben Shalom, another fight has been removed from the card. Mark Heffron has pulled out of his British title defence against Zak Chelli due to an injury, as first reported by International Boxing News.
Still, the likes of Marshall, Natasha Jonas, Ben Whittaker and Callu Simpson will be on display for the event on July 1, which will be available to watch live on Sky Sports.
